Students can choose between two areas of focus: Pre-School/Primary or Child and Family Services.
Focusing on children (birth-3rd grade), this specialization is a teacher education program resulting in certification and licensure - preparing students for teaching in public school settings.
This specialization prepares students for careers working with children and their families in non-public school settings or in agencies which serve children and families.
The Early Childhood program offers approved courses toward credentials to serve infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
SIU's Early Childhood Graduate Program focuses on the education and care of children from 0-8. It also focuses on the family as the primary influence on children.
