PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Social Science Education provides pre-service and in-service teachers with opportunities to develop instructional materials and curricular designs for history and social science classrooms, with a specific emphasis on historical thinking, media literacy, financial literacy, and geographic problem-solving. Through the integration of technology, students learn how to temper academic rigor with support to increase their curricula’s accessibility to students with diverse learning needs.

Accelerated Masters Program Option

Students interested in completing their M.S.Ed. degree as a full-time graduate student can also consider an accelerated process. This process simply means the required program of study can be completed in four semesters, provided the student enrolls in a minimum of 9 credit hours each semester. Courses completed for the accelerated process need to be approved by the social science education coordinator. See curriculum guide below for more information.
