Our Director of Development
Paul Melzer joined the SIU Foundation as Director of Development for the College of Education and Human Services in February 2016. A proud Saluki and product of the College of Education and Human Services earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration.
Paul is a native of Lake Zurich, Illinois and is an avid Chicago sports fan. When not at work, Paul enjoys spending time at home with his wife, Natalie, and kids Macy, Rya Jo, and Dalton.
Prior to joining the SIU Foundation, Paul was the Director for Special Olympics in Southern Illinois, a position he held since 2012. He was responsible for managing and developing all facets of the program which spanned ten counties in southern Illinois. During his tenure at Special Olympics Illinois, Paul doubled athlete participation numbers and tripled program revenue.
Paul served 4 years active duty in the United States Navy where he was stationed onboard the USS Cleveland LPD7 in San Diego, California. During his time in the Navy, Paul successfully completed two deployments to the Persian Gulf.
Paul is excited to give back to the University and College that gave so much to him as a student. He strongly believes Education and Human Services is the single most important medium to assist in educating all people and looks forward to making a difference both at the University and in the Community.
