About Ms. Wilson

Ms. Wilson was an Associate Professor of Dance and Program Director for the dance minor.  Her primary focus of training and study was dance technique and choreography.  She was faculty advisor and artistic director for the Southern Illinois Dance Company (SIDC). Ms. Wilson’s areas of research interest was performance, concert production, choreography, and Labanotation, a system of writing movement. She produced with SIDC a concert every semester. She has reconstructed several dances using Labanotation scores and has recorded a dance in Labanotation.

Her teaching duties at the undergraduate level included coursework required for dance minors, physical education teacher education undergraduate majors and musical theater majors. These include Introduction to Dance (KIN 100), Dance-Ballet (KIN 103A), Dance –Jazz (KIN 103C), Dance-Modern (KIN 103D), Dance-Square (KIN 103E), Dance-Tap (KIN 103F), Rhythms and Dance (118), Dance Concert Production Ensemble (KIN 160), Practicum-Dance (KIN 355E), Individual Research Dance (KIN 493A)

Choreographic Awards

  1. "Cry", a dance for six, was chosen as one of the dances on the Mid-American Dance Network's Regional Choreographer's Showcase.  The Mid-American Dance Network was a regional organization that included 5 mid-western states. Cottey College, Nevada, Missouri, October 1994
  2. "Toe Talk", a solo, was chosen as a winner of the Local Motion Annual Choreographer's Contest.  The Local Motion Foundation was based in Tulsa, Oklahoma and promoted modern dance in the Tulsa area as well as in the state. Tulsa Performing Arts Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma, July 1993
  3. "Domestications", a quartet for women, was chosen as an alternate for the American College Dance Festival's annual National Choreography Series.  This adjudicated concert represents faculty choreography from colleges and universities nation wide.  June 1993
