Faculty Member Joins Accreditation Review Team for Higher Learning Commission

Dr. Ruth Anne Rehfeldt has been asked to serve in the Peer Review Corp of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. In this position, she will be responsible for examining educational institutions that have applied to the Association for accreditation, verifying their compliance with the association’s Criteria for Accreditation, and helping them advance their candidacy within the context of their individual missions.
Dr. Rehfeldt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Puget Sound, and both Master’s and Ph. D. from the University of Nevada. She has had over 75 articles and book chapters published in the field of Behavior Analysis, where her research has focused on basic and applied investigations of verbal behavior and derived stimulus relations. Dr. Rehfeldt currently holds the positions of editor and business manager for The Psychological Record. She also serves as an editorial board member for The Journal of Applied Behavioral Analysis, The Analysis of Verbal Behavior, The International Journal of Psychology and Psychological Therapy, and The European Journal of Behavior Analysis.
At SIU, Dr. Rehfeldt has been awarded the Rehabilitation Institute Teacher of the Year several times. She was the Teacher of the Year in 2006, and Researcher of the Year in 2010 for the College of Education and Human Services. She and her students have delivered over 150 conference presentations over the years. Her current research explores complex human behavior and cognition, with a particular interest in typically developing children, as well as children adolescents and adults with intellectual disabilities and mental health conditions.
