Former Dean Beggs to Receive Honorary Degree

March 22, 2016, Zach Martin

Donald Beggs, former dean of COEHS and former interim chancellor of SIU, will receive an honorary doctoral degree in Education Leadership as part of May's commencement festivities.

Beggs served as the university's interim chancellor from 1996-98 and was met with great acclaim from faculty at that time.

After his term as chancellor, Beggs was both associate and assistant dean of COEHS before becoming Dean, a position he held for 15 years.

Prior to his retirement in 2012, Beggs served as president of Wichita State University, beginning in 1999.

Beggs will receive his honorary degree as part of SIU's spring commencement festivities in May.
