The College of Education and Human Services takes pride in Rehabilitation Institute's Evaluation and Developmental Center (EDC) achieving this high level of accreditation and its ongoing pursuit of excellence.

Founded in 1966 the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), is an independent international, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services. Its mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process and continuous improvement services that center on enhancing the lives of persons served. CARF serves as a catalyst for improving the quality of life of the persons served through responsiveness to a dynamic and diverse environment.

CARF accreditation decision to award Rehabilitation Institute's Evaluation and Developmental Center this high level of accreditation is based upon the EDC’s ability to satisfy each of the CARF Accreditation Conditions and to demonstrate substantial conformance to the standards. Demonstrating that the organization is designed and operated to benefit the persons served and shows quality improvement from any previous periods of CARF accreditation.

This achievement is an indication of Evaluation and Developmental Center's dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served. Services, personnel, and documentation clearly indicate an established pattern of conformance to standards.

Proud of EDC's accomplishment Carl Flowers, Director of the Rehabilitation Institute commented, "It is a big deal for us. Three year accreditation is the best you can get.” Flowers went on to praise LaDonna Henson, EDC Director and the EDC staff on their preparedness in providing documentation that clearly indicated EDC's established pattern of conformance to standards and their great job of getting ready for the accreditation team's visit.
