Undergraduate students have access to clinical training commensurate with their level of education.
The primary clinical focus at the undergraduate level is to expose the student to a breadth of observational experiences. This is achieved through observation privileges in the SIUC Clinical Center, SIUC Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders, or off-campus sites.
Additionally, students who are enrolled in practicum-based didactic courses have access to diagnostic and treatment materials, including standardized tests, the VisiPitch IV, an audiology testing suite, tympanometer and portable audiometers.
Students enrolled in CDS 493 – Basic Clinical Practice will participate in limited therapy services under the supervision of a graduate clinician.
These early experiences give students insight into the practice of speech-language pathology.
