Sara McClusky is a graduate from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Sara has since continued on and is currently working to obtain her Master’s degree in Social Work within the Advanced Standing Master’s program with a concentration in Health/Mental Health and with an expected graduation in May 2015. During her undergraduate career, she gained experience working with groups through volunteer experience and interned at Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.
She also studied abroad in Munich, Germany where she gained a great appreciation and interest in international social work. Upon graduation, she began working at Egyptian Health Department in Eldorado, Illinois as a Care Coordinator for youth. During her graduate degree and while working, she has gained experience working with grants and public policies, as well as gained training on trauma behavioral health therapy models and early childhood mental health. Sara is now a fellow within the Trauma Based Behavioral Health Fellowship at SIU and is hoping to expand her knowledge and training on trauma behavioral health.
