Sarah Basler is from Carbondale and lives in Marion. She has been working in the social services field since 1998. She is a proud SIU-C alumnus where achieved her BSW. She was accepted in to the accelerated MSW program. Sarah has worked with a variety of populations over the years. Sarah’s work experience includes being a Case Aide for Lutheran Social Services, a Family Assistance Center representative for the southern region of Illinois with the Illinois National Guard during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. She has also worked with both male and female adolescents and adults with addictions and mental health issues. This is where her passion is and what she has dedicated her career to. She is currently the lead counselor on the adult men Co-Occurring unit at Gateway Foundation Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center. Sarah is licensed through the state of Illinois as a drug and alcohol counselor and has her CADC with the MISA endorsement (mental illness and substance abuse). Sarah also recently passed the ASWB licensure testing and received her LSW. Sarah dedicates part of her free time to giving back to the community and is a volunteer with CASA of Williamson County. She also enjoys being part of the MoACTS TF-CBT learning collaborative supported by the Poshard Foundation and is a broker with team Jasper/LSSI.
Sarah is a firm believer in equal parts work, family and self-care. She loves to spend time with all of her family to include her husband, adult children, grandchildren and her 3 adopted fur baby dogs! To obtain her goals of self-care Sarah enjoys working in her yard and with her koi pond. She also practices yoga and mindfulness meditation. Sarah is an avid NFL football fan and loves her Pittsburgh Steelers!
