edTPA Scores and Pass Rates

2015 - 2016 Assessment Period

The College of Education and Human Services’ Teacher Education Program students have achieved a perfect 100 percent pass rate on the edTPA assessment.

The edTPA is an evidence-based performance assessment of teacher candidate effectiveness, developed by Stanford University, which is required for all teacher candidates to pass before they apply for licensure to teach in the state of Illinois. The assessment is widely used throughout the United States as a capstone assessment to measure effectiveness in the classroom by focusing on student learning.

During the 2015-2016 assessment period, all teacher candidates received a passing score. The SIU candidates excelled by surpassing the state and national average scores in secondary education mathematics, English, and history/social science, as well as in physical education and visual arts education.
