Curricular Options

The requirements of the OTD specialization can be satisfied in one of two ways. Students would select the Regular OTD option if they are graduates of A.A. or A.S. programs or have completed or are in the process of completing the SIUC University Core Curriculum courses. Students who have graduated with an A.A.S. or other occupationally-oriented degree or certificate would opt for the Capstone option.

Regular Option

A summary of the Regular option of the undergraduate OTD specialization appears in Figure 1. The totals represent the minimum number of semester hours required for graduation. While not factoring into the 120 semester hour total, the SIUC Senior Institution, Residence and grade point average requirements must also be met to graduate from the University. See the "OTD Specialization - Regular" illustration.

Capstone Option

A summary of the Capstone Option of the OTD specialization appears in Figure 2. As with the Regular Option, Capstone is comprised of a University Core Curriculum, OTD Professional Sequence, Occupational Training, Work Experience, Senior Institution and Residence requirements. However, because the number of semester hours of University Core Curriculum credit in the Capstone option is 30 rather then 41, and, because the total number of semester hours to graduate remains the same for both options, the semester hour difference is accounted for by recognizing an additional 11 semester hours of occupational training credit. See Figure 2 and the "OTD Specialization - Capstone" illustration.
