Congratulations to the Doctoral Class of 2016

We have four newly minted PhDs among us. Zach Petrantoni successfully defended his dissertation in Decmeber, 2016. Maia Moore, Makoto Myoshi, and Mais Al-Nasah each successfully defended in March and April this year. Having four PH.D. graduates in Counselor Education and SUpervision is a wonderful moment for them and for the faculty that have been a part of their journey. We wish all of them well and know that our former students are going to becoming outstanding colleagues in our field. Congratulations Zach, Maia, Makoto and Mais. We are so very proud of you.

Scholarship and Leadership

Faculty updates: Dr. Kimberly Asner-Self attended the American Counseling Association Conference in Montreal Canada. She lead several meetings as the president of the Association for Specialists in Group Work. Neffisaut Damob attended and presented at the Benjamin Cohen Peace conference in Munice, IN. Congratulations to both for representing SIU at these important professional meetings. 

Student Honors

We are also proud to announcement that three of our students receivied awards at this year's College of Education and Human Services Honor Day ceremony, April 9, 2016. Congratulations to doctoral student, Vanessa Stout Renshaw, recipient of the Cummings Scholarship, and School Counseling, MS.Ed. students, Chastity Jones, recipient of the Arthur M. Home Student Award, and Julian Andersaon, recipient of the Dorothy J. Ramp Scholarship.

Connecting with the Real World 

Kudos to Marriage, Couple and Family students, Sydney Lawrence and Sarah Marie Tester for attending the Regional Conference on Child Welfare and Trauma Training, held April 8, 2016. THeir efforts to pursue professional development in a critical need area is respected and valued. THanks for represnting us at the conference.
