
PhD Program Requirements
The program for all doctoral students in Quantitative Methods shall include:
- EDUC 510 (Intro to Doctoral Studies) - 3 hours
- EDUC 511 (Philosophical & Cultural) or EDUC 512 (Behavioral & Cognitive) - 3 hours
- EDUC 505 (Intro to Quantitative Methods) - 3 hours
- EAHE 587 (Intro to Qualitative Research) - 3 hours
- QUAN 531 (Principles of Measurement) - 3 hours
- QUAN 533 (Survey Research Methods) - 3 hours
- QUAN 580 (Selected Topics) - 15 hours (minimum)
- One elective outside the Department related to Meas. And Stat - 3 hours (minimum)
- Dissertation - 24 hours
QUAN 506 (Inferential Statistics), 507 (Multiple Regression), and 508 (Experimental Design) may be used to meet the College of Education research competency requirement but the hours from these courses may not be counted as part of a student's 64 hour program requirement. See a complete list of these courses on this program planning sheet. All students in Quantitative Methods must pass a written preliminary examination before being advanced to candidacy. The preliminary examination is described in the next section.
