Recreation Professions serve at the Veteran's Honor Flight
Students from the Recreation Professions program had the honor to serve as ground crew support at the Veteran's Honor Flight on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Veteran's Airport in Marion. This is the third consecutive flight the students have volunteered. REC Professions student, Filip Ferguson said "it's always an honor to serve those who have served our country. To all who have participated, take this moment to acknowledge that you have what it takes to make a difference in this world."

Donahoo named Judge William Holmes Cook Professor fellowship
Saran Donahoo, Professor, Educational Administration and Higher Education has been named a recipient of the Judge William Holmes Cook Professor fellowship beginning this fall 2018. Cook Professorships are three-year appointments that also provide $7,500 annually to the recipients to fund scholarly work, graduate assistantships, travel, summer stipends or other related uses.

Jurkowski named Provost Faculty Fellow
Elaine Jurkowski Elaine Theresa Jurkowski, Professor, School of Social Work has been named Provost Faculty Fellow for the spring 2018 semester. The Fellowship will focus on first generation students, recruitment and retention. Jurkowski will be part of the university’s team responsible for SIU Carbondale’s Quality Initiative required by the Higher Learning Commission.
