Diane Muzio joined the faculty in 1997, and is a Senior Lecturer in the Rehabilitation Institute and Clinic Coordinator for the Communication Disorders & Sciences Program. She received her B.A. in sociology from Fordham University, M.S. in speech-language pathology and audiology from the University of Virginia, and her Ph.D. from SIUC.  Dr. Muzio is the Teacher Education Program Coordinator and graduate Externship Coordinator for the CDS program. She teaches graduate coursework in swallowing disorders, and clinical and professional issues.  She also has taught or is teaching undergrad courses in phonetics, voice and articulation, anatomy & physiology, and diagnostic procedures. Dr. Muzio is a site reviewer for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Council on Academic Accreditation. She is the recipient of the 2002, 2005 and 2007 Rehabilitation Institute Teacher of the Year Award, and the 2002 ASHA ACE Award. Ms. Muzio holds a dual appointment in the SIUC Clinical Center, where she is the Coordinator of Speech-Language Services.
