SIU Teacher Education Graduates Working in Illinois Schools:

Ashley Dietz
Kindergarten teacher
Carbondale
"I am currently teaching Kindergarten in Carbondale school district. This is the same district where I was assigned for my internship and student teaching. The internship really allowed me to communicate with school staff because I was in the building more than just the hours I was required to have. It's really neat to say hello to students in the district who had me during undergrad. I now know many families in the district because of my time spent in the district during the internship.
I hope to eventually return to SIU for my Masters. I have learned so much this first year of teaching. I hope to stay in the Southern Illinois area to continue my career in education. I have no regrets of going into the education field. Even though there are some days that make you wonder why you became a teacher, I can never regret my decision of completing the internship and my choice of changing students' lives daily. "
