Born and raised on the west-side of Chicago, where crime, drugs, and violence are extremely high, I am proud to say never let your circumstances and surroundings dictate your future. I am a living example of one who avoided engaging in such malicious activities in pursuit of a better lifestyle through education. As of today, at 28 years old, I have a B.A. in Radio/Television, with a minor in Music Business, an M.S. in Professional Media & Media Management, and finally, a Ph.D in Educational Administration.

The knowledge that I have gained from courses in the Educational Administration program was very valuable. I can apply the knowledge I have gained towards administering a non-profit organization I founded called Meet & Teach. I was also able to learn more about non-profits by taking electives such as Administration of Non-Profits and Non-Profit Grant Writing.

One suggestion I will make to future Ph.D students is not to be intimidated by your doctoral journey ahead. Outside of the ample amount of hard work and dedication it took, my dissertation process turned out to be an amazing experience. I was able to conduct my research in Cape Town, South Africa while having the help of my dissertation committee every step of the way.

Now that I am finished with school, I plan to continue expanding Meet & Teach worldwide! Our organization is dedicated to teaching youth creative processes in a variety of media-arts through experiential learning.
