Ph.D. in Education: Curriculum and Instruction Concentration

Specialty areas in:

Curriculum Studies+ -

(Curriculum and Instruction)

The Curriculum Studies specialty area prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to assume a variety of leadership roles in curriculum design, development, assessment and/or studies in public and private schools, state departments and university settings. The Curriculum Studies Specialty Area offers three possible tracks for doctoral students. The first is the Curriculum Development & Evaluation track. This focus is for those doctoral students interested in working in schools or the private sector in the areas of curriculum/program design, development and assessment. The second is the Curriculum Theory & Foundations track that focuses more on curriculum theory and educational foundations. A third track is more of a hybrid and exists for students who are interested in curriculum and education studies but whose specific interest may lie outside of the first two tracks. In this case, the graduate student would construct his/her program in consultation with their graduate advisor. Graduates from all three tracks also are eligible for teaching positions in higher education. Learn more>>
